Reduction in Council Tax query
7 Answers
Does anyone know if it is true that if you live in close proximity to phone masts or power lines you can get a reduction on your council tax, please?
Has anyone been successful in doing so, i wonder?
It is worth a try, if true!

The 2 masts are very recently erected and I'm still paying at Band F, 1775 a year, so nothing has been deducted. Also, the properties like mine for sale nearby are not selling or have had sales fall through with the reasons given that the masts are too close and people are worried about health risks for their children.
I'm sure lots of other home owners are in the same boat over this, with the large numbers of masts being erected all the time in populated areas, near schools and homes, etc. So I thought I'd ask other peoples' experiences.
Thanks again.

You need to prove a big enough reduction in the value of your property (in hypothetical 1991 figures) to shift you down to the band below. Not just any old reduction.
Band F is 129000 - 160000, so if your property came down from 160K to 130K, your tax band would be unchanged. If it went from 135K to 125K, a much smaller drop, then you would get a reduction in tax.
