I am on Income support and Incapacity benefit - will my benefits be affected by winnings on internet poker - how much would I be able to win before my benefits are affected

Incapacity Benefit is not means tested, but Income Support is. You can have up to �6000 in savings without it affecting your entitlement. If you have more than that, Income Support is reduced on a sliding scale until it stops entirely if you have �16,000.

But are you sure what you are planning is wise? You are living on a very low income and I suspect far more people lose money on gambling than win. You could easily end up with significant debts.

Thank you for your concerns---but.... yes we are on IS and IB and DLA -- for the last 18 months I have been on bed rest (on and off) I entered a FREE competition of poker and luckily I won -- I have since read books on this subject and played many thousands of hands at very LOW stakes. As I increase my bank roll I increase the size of the bets and I am consistantly earning $20 an hour (all poker sites play in dollars) so that is �10 an hour and I am not at the level I want to be yet.
You are quiet right in your assumption that most players loose.. in fact its more like 90%.
So if you can play good poker there is plenty of money for the winners.
It is not a game of luck its a game of situations calculations and mathmatical odds.
