Pre-approved usually means no more than that your name is on a mailing list. We're ex-bankrupts with a credit history that would make the national debt look like pocket money, and we get them all the time.
It still means you have to apply and be accepted in the usual way for whatever it is they're offereing.

I left Natwest last year because they annoyed the hell out of me, I had been with Natwest since getting my first job at 18 yrs old since then I had a current account and then later on top a student account and was never overdrawn once on either. But then all of a sudden they started pulling me into offices to 'help' me when they were trying to get me to agree to opening a different account which cost me money??? They would keep me there against my will telling me all the upsides and not mentioning any cost, and all I would say is if it costs me anything I m not interested ok!!
One day last year I went into the back to deposit some money and the guy behind the glass would not stop quizing me and telling what they could do for me, I said Im not interested, he continued to force me I said please just do what I have asked and process my deposit I am late for work he kept on at me and became quite rude.
Even though I was late for work I went straight over to the customer service desk and asked to close both my accounts straight away!!
