If a company makes your position redundant and moves you to another department are they allowed to reduce your salary?

If over 25 workers are employed in your company, then you should be protected by TUPE (transfer of protected employment rights or something like that). If they have not paid you any redundancy money, then they are allowed to offer you redeployment in another area of the company, but this must be similar to what you are already doing and have the same or better salary. It also must be within a reasonable travelling distance of your present place of employment. You are also allowed to take this redeployment on a trial basis for 3 months and if you do not like the new position, can then request redundancy from the company. If the company has paid you redundancy money, then I presume that they can offer you any position they wish as a new job, but it is up to you if you wish to take it!
I am not sure of the rights of a work force which is less than 25, it may be best to check on the advice I have given anyway! Cheers, Sue
