What does my partner need to get a mortgage.

Hi, hope you can answer this question. My partner has been living in the USA. She has just got a job and is curently getting a bank account. Can you tell me what she will need in order to be a first time buyer and get a mortgage. By that i mean does she need to have a job or a bank account for a pre-determined time or does she just need three months wage slips and proof that she has a bank account and identity things. I really appreicate your response.
