Hi,
Are there any financial benefits of getting married. No kids, just wondered if tax paid at work will differ?, and if council tax will differ?
Cheers

If one of you passes away the other automatically inherits at least part of the estate. If you are not married the deceased's other relatives get it if there is no will.
Tax (until you are over 70 anyway) and council tax won't change.
You get reduced rate subscriptions to some organisations - although most these days allow unmarried couples the same.

Mrs Pegasus, I merely asked the question as I have never been married before, and am just trying to find out what the benefits are apart from the obvious ones. Id like to make sure that our big day goes smoothly and that EVERYTHING is sorted. My next question was going to be ' do we need to notify anyone (i.e tax/ employers/ council) of our change in circumstance?'. Perhaps you could answer that one too...

Start recording your mail, anything that comes in your name you will need to note down and then notify them when you are married. When you get your marriage certificate get copies made as soon as you can, some companies/organisations will ask for copies.
Didnt mean to offend but your wording sounded like you were needing something to make your mind up.
