FTSE100 futures contract calculation

Please can anyone help.
I've been spread betting the FTSE100 futures contracts.
I'm just wondering how these future positions(values) are calcuated???

Futures are calculated used basis points. These are worked out based on the length of the futures contract (usually 3 months) and the spot price. And this is far more complicated to explain than I thought!

You'd need a book on derivatives (futures, options, forward contracts etc) -
