A bank giro credit just means that someone else has paid money into your account. It could be absolutely anyone in the UK.

AS is the reference or message they put on the paying in slip or typed in if they did it on line. It must mean something to someone, but not to me.

It's either something you have been expecting (?refund for something?) but have forgotten about, or it's a mistake. In the latter event you have (eventually) to pay it back if (when) the mistake is discovered.
Hi Kira,

If you want to find further info re a giro credit ask your bank to do a CREDIT TRACE for you. All banks have this facility as it is a legal requirement for banks to hold this information.
