I have recently moved into a furnished house. The owner of the property has all his property insured, and of course building insurance.
Bearing this in mind, is there any company who will do "part insurance" for me, ie just on the property I have brought with me.
I have tried the internet but they do not appear to facilitate this option.

Tenants insurance is what you are looking for. Here is an example that provides cover for personal possessions from �5000:
