ive heard that if im not at the same fixed place of work for 2 years for the same company i can claim i work in the construction industry and other people said they have claimed
if that is the case, your company wuld reimburse you, not the taxpayer surely?. think about it logically ... i could live in the south of england, and get a job in the noth of scotland, but i wuldnt expect "the government" (other taxpayers) to reimburse me beecause of this would i? i have no lagal knowledge, but it makes sense to me the way Ive explained it
Now let me get this right. you ARE NOT in the construction industry, but those who are can claim petrol allowance, so you want to lie and say you are just so the government (in other words us tax paying workers) will subsidise you.....

ive heard loads of stories about this and was also wondering why my girlfriend cant claim any petrol for traveling to a nursing home everyday
Because unlike you she IS at the same fixed place of work. Q.E.D.
You may be able to claim for travelling between sites. You cannot claim petrol for going to and from your regular workplace even if you were self employed. So that is why your girlfriend won't recieve a petrol allowance for going to and from the nursing home.
my husband works in construction ... he is site based therefore get an allowance for travelling from home to work. however, this allowance is given to him by his emplloyer (i'm pretty sure)
So why can MP's claim travel allowance & living expense for being in London?
