I had a Post Office account opened for me as a baby, 1983-84. I now have no books or statements relating to the account. How do I go about finding this account and if i have any money in it?

Write to National Savings in Glasgow giving as much information as you can:

your own full name
date of birth
parents' full names
address at the time and subsequent addresses

and they will try to find it for you. It's most likely it was an ordinary account, which has now been discontinued, but if the money is still there you will be entitled to it.

There is a postcode with that address but the nsandi web site ( www.nsandi.com ) isn't respondong at the moment so I can't look it up.
It's there now:

You can ring National Savings on 0845-964-5000 and they should be able to give you an answer as to whether or not you still have an account. They will not give you any details until you have applied by post. I have done this myself for a friend and they had inherited an account after their mother died.
