If someone responds to a phishing email and gives their details out, and then their bank account is subsequently emptied, are the bank likely to give them the money back? It's not me btw!
Bit of a grey area but generally I think the banks like people to use online banking so they seek to reassure, on that basis they would probably compensate in most cases if genuine. They would take each case on it's merits though and investigate the circumstances thoroughly to satisfy themselves that the customer is not fraudulent.
Oh dear, after reading that links it's not looking too good! It definately isn't fraudulent, just someone stupid enough to fill out all their details. I'll keep my fringers crossed that the Bank are in a good mood, they are investigating at the moment.
