Paypal problems

I recently sold one of my son's PSP games on ebay. I was asked by a buyer from Japan, what the serial number was on the base of the game. I gave him the number and he purchased it. However, after leaving me good feedback he then demanded I refund him his money as the serial number I quoted was incorrect. I told him no way as there would be no reason why I would give him the wrong number. In any case it was a genuine game. I never heard anything since. Until, I went into my paypal account and discovered that he had been refunded. He registered a claim on the 10/09/07 and was paid back ont he 21/09/07. My primary email address with Paypal I no longer have access to. So it may well be the case that they have sent me emails but I have not recieved them. In any case they paid him back in 10 days because he claimed that it was significantly different to that described! How can they do this without any evidence? This guy buys the same game all the time 'Liberty City' from different buyers on Ebay. I strongly suspect something fraudulent is going on. I've emailed Paypal but not had any replies, has anybody any ideas. It's only 15, but that's not the point it's the principle. He has also still got the game!!! Thanks in advance

Six MONTHS later, Paypal took the money from my account saying that the purchaser was now claiming that her account had been misused. She also claimed she hadn't received the goods. As luck would have it, I'd had a clear out of paperwork a couple of days before all this happened, and I'd binned the six months old proof of posting.
I was left minus my item AND out of pocket.
Sorry I can't advise on your situation, but anytime I get the chance to have a rant about paypal I take it!

Personally I have founf Ebay and paypal to be fine until something goes wrong. I am just involved in my first paypal dispute but as the buyer I have more rights than the seller luckily.
I would have thought that they should have given you the opportunity to have the item back and then do a refund and also a bit dodgy that he had already left good feedback.
I would say report him to ebay but their response will be "sort it out between you".

This is because you did not reply to the emails within the specified time - because they don't have your email address.
It really is up to you to make sure PayPal can contact you if you use them.
PayPal had no choice but to refund him after 10 days because that is their terms and conditions - after a dispute is raised if there is no response from the other side, then they find in favour of the party raising the dispute.

I also had a problem with Paypal. You send them emails and they act like a parrot just repeating the same words without taking any serious interest or treating your case as an individual circumstance. They make their money and can't be bothered. Fortunately my account balance was zero at the time and so they created a negative balance and demanded the money. I basically told them what they could do. They froze my account so now I just send postal orders/cheques or make a direct payment into the seller's bank account. 6 months later i had a standard letter from a collection agency. I wrote back to them to tell them their fortune and that I would see them in court. They passed it back to Paypal and 9 months later all is quiet so just ignore them if you are in the same situation.
