Do some employers refuse to pay wages onto one of those prepaid maestro/mastercards? I asked my work's payroll department if this was possible and the girl in there didn't think my employer (NHS) would, but then again she didn't seem like she had a clue what I was talking about anyway!

If you can give them a sort code, an account number and a customer reference they are not going to know what they are paying it on to.

If you can't, then they are unlikely to do it - probably actually unable to do it.
