hi . yesterday i acquired a free 5 voucher from amazon.co.uk to spend on their website .i purchased a dvd which cost 5.21 . my normal paying method with amazon is my credit card so the 21p will be charged to my card. however someone just told me that there is a minimum amount which my card provider will charge, and may charge me a higher fee than 21p ?? any help please
I can't say that I've ever heard of a minimum amount on a credit card. Sometimes if you use it in a shop, the shop may have a minimum spend and may make their own charge if you are under that but I doubt the credit card company will charge you.
Does the 5.21 include a postage element? Things may have changed but at one time you could only redeem vouchers against goods, not carriage, so you may pay a little more than you thought.
In either event they will charge your card - no matter how small the amount. It will be an automated process that is too difficult to stop. You won't get charged a fee.
i dont think u understand the question ethel. the credit card company will get the money from my card because the voucher i used was only valued at 5 ,whereas the purchase i made was 5.21 .so my card will DEFINATELY be charged the 21p .but i just wanted to know if it was likely any more than the 21p would be charged
Retailers are charged a processing/handling fee for credit card transactions. Some retailers may pass this charge (or greater) on to the customer; Amazon does not.
