It's an attempt to acquire your security details by getting you to enter them into a fake site. If you didn't enter anything, the only thing it has told them is that your email exists and you do probably have an Abbey account.
Just delete these emails.
You might have been lucky this time but your curiosity might also have led you to click on an e-mail that let a virus into your computer.

Millions of peoples e-mails are now on spammers and phishers lists and it sounds like yours is too now.

1) If youre a bit suspicious about an e-mail, just dont open it but delete it. No financial institution will rely solely on e-mail to contact you is they really need to.

2) If you want to research an e-mail before deciding what to do from it, look at http://www.hoax-slayer.com/.

3) If you get inundated, change your e-mail address.

Hope this helps.
There's no such company as Abbey National now- they have been Abbey for some time, part of Santander.
Any email claiming to be from AbbeyNational is therefore clear a poor scam.
And if email was genuine the bank would always include your name- scams just say something like Dear Customer.
An email from a bank shouldn't include a link. Banks want you to log on to their site by keying in their web address as they want people to avoid clicking on links in emails.
If in doubt go out of the email, log onto your bank account, and if there was really a problem with your account you'd find out then.
Been getting these all week. They have now changed to Nat West. I suppose they hope they get the right bank eventually.
mm I got one supposing to be from RBS a few weeks ago , just delete them as its getting more common ....
