Hi, I am a Lloyds TSB customer and I regally use atm's to take out cash but just before the new year I was taking cash that I did not have I would have never taken this cash if I new it wasn't in my bank the reason why I was taking this cash is because the atm said I had it. But what it never told me is that I was going into my unplanned overdraft. I owned the bank about �80 this then went to �119.10 and then Lloyds TSB put me under the control of their collection centre. I had to go to my bank last Thursday to give in my card and to sort out my payment plan. So when I went to the bank I thought no more charges I will be add I thought I was pay money back slowly. But then I had a letter this morning say I still ode �119.10 and to call them so I called them only to find they have charged me about �380.00 in charges so now I oh them about �500.
I just wanted to no whether I could clam ang of this money back or just drop the charges
I also wanted to now whether my bank could do this if you can help me then I would be so grateful thank for your time.

How come the ATM let you withdraw cash that wasn't there, they are not supposed to do this, your casrd should have been refused.
I think you should also ask for a breakdown of exactly what the �500 owed consists of as �380 in charges in a couple of weeks is extortionate.

Ok, firstly, from what you say, you've been spending money that you didnt have. Thats your fault not the Banks I'm afraid. For all they know you were fully aware that you were going overdrawn and were happy to pay extra for this facility.
I presume they would have written to you when you went overdrawn? But you still owe them money now a month later? Why didnt you pay it back as soon as you realised or contact them then?
The charges do seem very steep however. Do as CheekyChops says and ask for a breakdown.

I accidentally went overdrawn from Lloyds once because I got caught out when they shut earlier than I thought on Xmas Eve. I went to pay some money in and they were already closed. Anyway I received a letter telling me I was overdrawn. They said they were charging me something like �30 for the letter. I rang them up and had a go. I think I got the money back with some persuasion. This was many years ago now and I have never done anything like that again.
