BaaN MRP is the manufacturing resource planning module from the suite of Enterprise Resources Planning software tools produced by the company BaaN. MRP modules can either by used alone or in conjunction with other modules in the ERP suite. The purpose of MRP is to plan materials and production capacity (machine tools and people resources) to produce products, either directly in line with customer requirements or in line with a forecasting schedule that predicts future customer orders. The programme suite is flexible and is always heavily customised to fit specific user needs.
Business Objects is the name of a company owned by SAP that produces a program that interrogates other business computer programmes. It is also very flexible and can be used in a number of ways, but its main power is in being able to interrogate several different programs of differing functionality that do not talk to one another and extract data for further processing. It then delivers an management output output in either data or report form. The program has the capacity for users to generate their own queries (enquiries) by interrogation of data.
