I am taking my laptop away on holiday on Sunday and want to get travel insurance to cover any problems i might have with it getting damaged in transit etc

however i dont have a receipt for the laptop. Can anyone recommend a policy where i will still be covered?

Mine is automatically covered in my house contents insurance for loss / theft / accidental damage, even away from the home.

Check your policy before spending more money.
