Minimum wage for 16-17 yrs from 2007 is �3.40 an hour. He's obviously younger so you're not obliged to give him this. Why not try something like �3.10/�3.20 an hour on a trial and go up if you feel happy!

13 year olds for paper rounds ..after that
they have to be 16 years old ..if he has
an accident H&S will be on your back ...

My 16 year old son (he's in year 11, so his last year at school) has a Saturday job in a local garage. He works for 4 hours and is paid �15. The owner of the garage had to do a risk assessment before my son could start.
