Stop government getting hold of OAP's property
5 Answers
What is the best way to prevent the government from getting hold of an OAP's home, money to pay for care homes etc. I know about the 7-year rule, is there an alternative?

It seems to me that sons and daughters in the UK and other western countries want it both ways - to benefit from their parents' estate, and for the State to look after their parents in old age.
Thanks for the comment Slyday but sometimes it's best for someone to be looked after by someone who knows what's best for the individual and has the skill to do so. As for benefiting, this particular OAP has done his part for his country and worked hard all his life to build up a nest egg, why shouldn't the family benefit if that's what he always wanted. Maybe you should just answer the question rather than going off on one about something you know nothing about!
