i have a ccj, though it is now spent, how long before i can confidentley apply for loans and morgages etc.

A CCJ remains on your record for 6 years. After that time it will not show if a company seeks a credit report on you. Its always useful to get hold of your own credit report from the 2 main providers experian and equifax and satisfy yourself there is nothing on there that you are not aware of.
