Sunday supplement junk

My Nan brought three figurines at different times from one of these places. When I was there last, I looked at them all and on the bottom of them they all say "No. 1157 of Limited Edition of 5000". They're all 1157! My cynical mind has kicked into overdrive. Anyone know if this scam has been revealed before?

But, when she bought the first one, did the company know that she might be buying the other two? If so, they might say that they simply reserved for her No. 1157 of all the figurines available. Alternatively, knowing that she already had No. 1157 of the first figurine, they may have numbered the others to match. Incidentally, I'm not sure these companies produce 5,000 figurines (or whatever) at the outset. They probably wait for the orders to come in, and produce them accordingly.
Just check with the company!
I seem to remember that some companies will keep all the same numbers for the same customers.
Out of curiosity, what company was she using and what did she buy?
I bought some 'tat' about 10 years ago from a supplement. Fortunately, the 'tat' did me proud and I sold them for a considerable profit about 3 months ago (25 each to 175 each due to being a complete set)
