Have your resignation written and signed, and sealed in an envelope. Make sure your boss is alone, and don't mess about - say "I am sorry but I have to hand in my notice because (insert any reason you want to give). I have enjoyed my time here, and I will be sorry to leave". Your boss should respond with thanks, maybe a handshake, you leave the office, and proceedure takes its course. Don't panic, it's unlikely that this is the first time your boss has dealt with this issue, it's an occupational hazzard of employing people.

Thank you, you have put my mind at rest. I will try what you have said, although he is not the easiest person to talk to as he doesnt let you speak and just talks over you. I will do as you have suggested though ... wish me luck!
In that case, don't stand in his office with an envelope in your hand as he may guess what it is and make you uncomfortable. Have it in a folder or something and, as mentioned, be as professional and calm as possible. Easier said than done! Good luck.

Thank you, ill do that. Ill let you know how it goes!
Maybe a bit late now but as suggested, don't make a fuss, simply walk in, hand over the envelope and say "Here's my letter of resignation, all the relevant details are contained within, please let me know if you need any thing further".

I did it. It wasnt so bad after all. I just asked to have a word with him and told him I was handing in my Notice. He asked why and I gave him my reasons and he said fine. He is not in a very good mood today but never mind! Worry over!
