My friend has requested a loan from advantage loans (po Box 4002 Poole, BH14 0BF) they have responded on printed paper (not a proper letter head it's obviously printed onto plain paper) and told him he needs to pay 49.50 set up fee, before they will do anything.. in all my applications for loans (never successful heh heh) I've NEVER heard of a company that asks you for money to lend you money... [Edited] I haven't tried calling the phone number given yet. this as been on here before.dont pay money upfront, sounds a bit fishy this company??
This could well be a con. See the following website - http://hometown.aol.co.uk/jacager/page1loans.html
This is a scam, and I made the point of calling up Advantage loans and saying so. They trick you into believing it is that easy to successfully apply and get a loan. I called them up five times before I was taken in by their so called knowledge and experience of loan processing, asking pertinent questions like, You can't state that I have a loan as you are only a broker and when you say that there are no creit checks, well , of course there are no credit checks simply because THEY don't do the credit checking, the lender does. You have to pay 49.90 up front on the belief that you have had all your suspicions quenched as they tell you that it will be a simple task for the lender to hand over the money within two weeks as they incorrectly state, or downright lie that some lenders don't credit check and these are the companies they target. Bull! After about four weeks they sent me another application to fill in and one for a guarantor to fill in crowing that they worke as hard as they could to secure a loan and that this lener is the only one that will lend if there is a guarantor. I tried to contact customewr services who are constantly engaged and always dealing with other customers. Well I challenge anyone if they managed to get through to them at all. So in conclusion they have your fifty quid and you have nothing as they know that no one is going to burden anyone else with a debt. DON'T GO FOR IT. I already emailed WATCHDOG.
yes they messed me about too saying they found me a loan only to give an answer from two people who already rejected me it seems oll they did was follow my credit requast froms other loaners u cant get into with now one unless u stay on the phone calling them over and over again i sugest calling there number where they take your details origanaly and bombard them with calls they asnwer that one i needed the money for a girl who has cancer so she could go on holiday there sick and im going to look for them so they can tell me to my face what they r up to becouse i cant get my money back if any one can help em on andyfrdudley@aol .com .ty
just trying to call the number just now i am glad that i logged on to this site.
have just phoned advantage loans on 0870 900 1939 and asked if i have been conned was assured by the person i spoke to that i was not being conned, although i will believe this when i finally get through to customer services, and get my loan in my bank account. wish me luck, i will keep you posted with any developments.
more to the story- my guaranteed acceptance now seems to have disappeared, i have just phoned the broker who still seems to be mulling the decision over. maybe i am super paranoid but i think this is a con, i could be wrong, i am so glad i logged on to this site. i will warn others. bye for now
No and yea. companies like this set very high costs and interest to offset the liability they take on unsecured loans or poor credit rated persons. my own experience is similar. they have replied to me on dodgey paper, badly typed wityh no title for the sender. This letter came from CGS who claim to have had my information passed on to them When I attempted to phone the number at the top of the letter guess what,it was answered by Advantage Loans. My question concerned a loan which they were going to put on a credit card for me and charge 35% APR as well as charge to set it up! Get your friend to try another source, I am contacting the Office of Fair Trading.
have had another problem/asset, tried to call CGS, turns out this is a sister company of Advantage LOans, the person on the end of the phone did not know who was the head of the company. strange eh. tried to make her understand that they had my bank details, this could mean that they could clean out my account at any time, as I have children to look after I need money to survive, therefore i will be changing my bank account tommorrow. this experince has taught me alot. dont trust anyone who has instant solutions.
