i was going to be made bankrupt by a finance company but i managed to agree a figure with them and pay them. however i want to know will this be recorded on my credit history.

I should think so because even when you apply for a loan from a bank and get refused for no fault of your own,that actually lowers your credit score and is recorded so if something so small like applying for a loan can be recorded then im sure your case will be recorded,you can check your credit report here http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/ good luck and i hope im wrong.

It won't be recorded that they were going to make you bankrupt but to get to that stage suggests that you were in arrears / not paying and that will be recorded.
As well as collecting information from the public records of courts, credit reference agencies receive information from all the major banks and credit companies on everyones payment history.

So yes it will show up on your credit file.

Credit reference agencies, and there are only three of them, hold information for approx 6 years. At anytime you can write to them to request a copy of your file. It will cost you �2 per company. Doing this you will get a full report and you will then know exactly what they hold.
