Good morning! I have money owing to HSBC and the debt was passed to MCS Collection Agency. I always (well, twice I didn't, actually!) pay them back on time and genuinely pay as much as I can afford to. However, this month, an unforeseen emergency occurred and I cannot afford to pay them the normal amount I pay them. Is it possible to reduce your payment for one month only? Or will they take some kind of action against me if I do this?

There is no point asking on here, you will have to contact them and ask.

Under normal circumstances I would say that one lower payment they won't mind but as you have made a couple of late payments already, they may be less sympathetic.
Just ask them. They earn more from you the longer the debt is outstanding, so if they are assured you will repay in accordance with any agreement you make they will probably help. But if you repeatedly fail to pay then they will enforce the debt.
I myself have had dealings with this company and still do. There seems to be some controversy regarding their identity and the fact that they claim to be independent of HSBC, when it has been alleged that they are in fact HSBC masquerading as another company.

Maybe this would explain why they continually harrass me
