If I wrote a cheque out today, when would the money be debited from my account?

When the company you are paying receive the cheque it should take 3 working days from then

As above.  It totally depends on when the payee of the cheque pays it into their bank.  if they pay it in on a Monday, it will be debited from your account on Wednesday.

However if by some coinidence they happen to pay the cheque in at the branch of your bank that your account is with, it will be debited the same day.
