Just sold my flat for 72,000 and the fees were 1.5%. Bloody rip off compared to how much work they did.
How long is a piece of string.
You negotiate with them, playing one off against the other.
The lowest fees come from a sole agency agreement, multiple agency is more costly.
Check how much advertising coverage in local papers you will get.
if you went on Jan's estimate of 1.5% you would pay 1293.75
Don't forget to add VAT at 15% to the fees.
my answer included vat
I would find an owner run Estate Agency, who is spending their own money to sell your house. They put in more effort as they want to recoup their money. Paying 1.5% is average.

Our estate agent has agreed a fee of .75%. After we had signed up, I saw an estate agent offering .5!

thanks to all who replied. sounds like a right rip off doesn,t it! i,m trying to sell my shared ownership home which i own 50% of. the local authority who own the other half are going to charge me nearly 900 to sell it but they can,t find anyone on their register who wants to buy it. so my only option is to sell it on the open market which will cost me even more.
