If l purchase something from the States ($) with my visa card, what's the best way to do it.
In Dollars or Pounds, or doesn't it matter?

Did you check to see if you would have to pay any import tax on whatever you are getting? my son was going to buy something from Usa then discovered that over and above th cost of the item he would also have to pay tax for it coming into the UK

Most US vendors will only accept payment in dollars. If you've found a vendor offering prices in sterling they are free to define their own exchange rate. It might be really advantageous or (more likely) it could be awful. So there can be no definitive answer to your question. If in doubt, accept the dollar price.

As Annie states, it's worth remembering that (for items costing over the equivalent of �18) you'll almost certainly end up paying some hefty charges for importing your purchase.

personally would sey up a pay-pal account, the guarentee complete satisfaction or a full refund, better safe than sorry
