hi im 17 and i have been searching for a good bank card. i already have a barclaycard visa electron, however i do not think the service they give me is any good, as i cannot contact them online, and the branch always say 'there are no available apointments'. To be honest i just want to go in a different direction. Can anyone help? Am i able to get like a student card as i am studying A-levels in higher education or something? i understand i cannot get a credit card until i am 18, but a good debit card is what im after. is it possible?

Very briefly....

1. Stick with whoever you are with at the moment. (Barclays?). Longevity and banking / credit history count for alot! (Believe me, you'll find out ! ) You'll be able to say "I've been with you for X years and always kept my account in good order" etc. etc.

2. Look out for 'student' deals and offers from other banks - but don't automatically change to them. Instead, contact your own bank and ask them to match it (the deal) as 'you've been a customer for so long' etc. Believe me, they'll want to keep you !

If they don't.....

3. Change anyway, but let your new bank know the reasons that you moved, (ie.despite your banking loyalty, you were let down by service etc.) and that you hope (nay, expect !!) a pretty damn good service from them.

Good Luck !!
