how do i get access to the electoral register and find out who owns a certain property and do you have to pay.

The electoral register is held by the local district council, and you can inspect it for free. There may be a copy at the local library. This, however, will only tell you who is living at the property, and not who owns it. For that information you will have to consult HM Land Registry. You can perform an online search to find out the title niumber for free, and then carry out a search of the register at a cost of �2.00. The website is

There is a possibiltiy that the title to the property is not registerd, but I can't help you with that.

An easy way is to use Land Registry Form 313 - "Who owns that Property?" - which can be printed off (with full instructions) from this link
