That's because Visa Electron is "For electronic use only" in other words, you must present the card physically to the retailer to be swiped/read and then verified. It can't be used for online transactions.
Question Author
That`s not likely, as the sites say that they accept Visa Electron for online transactions. Plus, on different sites, (ex. http://www.unionbankph.com/content.asp?paramID=AMBLAJZZZ Z)
says that to pay online, one needs to type the cardnumber.
Its the 16 digit number across the middle of the card
Question Author
There IS no 16 digit number on the Electron cards.
Only account number, birthnumber and a control-number.
some of them DO have, darkwingduck, which is why i suggested it. apologies if yours is different

It depends what bank you get your card from and now all new VE cards contain a chip.

The Halifax CardCash account issues you with a VE, mine displays my Card Number, Valid From, Valid To, Sort Code, Account Number, Issue and my Halifax Roll Number.

i have the same problem

Also Visa Electron is "for electronic use only" because you need the money to be in your account. Online Payment systems and instore payment terminals all integrate to your bank, an electronic payment but if you notice some places have a device that just rolls over the face of your card, this is not an electronic payment and you may not have the money to pay for it.

It just stops people loosing money or getting over charged.
