Grants / bursaries
4 Answers
My son joined the Merchant Navy in September as an Apprentice. It is a low wage and he has a mortgage . He has a tenant in his house because he has had to live in the College which costs him £250 per month. Are there any grants or bursaries which he might be entitled to ?

Grants? - I very much doubt it. Government policy moved away from grants many years ago. There are various career development loans one can take out - these get repaid after one is trained. Google the phrase and see what comes up.
Bursaries? - possibly, but the best source of specific info on his will be from the college itself. I assume he is either at Greenhithe in Kent, or Pangbourne College, Berkshire? If there are bursaries, the college itself will know how to apply for them.

He is possibly entitled to an Adult Learners' Grant.

That is a grant, not a loan
