Why haven't I ever been quoted a "Quote me happy price" for car insurance?

I have tried ringing those insurance companies who advertise on tv - e.g. "Quote me happy". Why are their prices REALLY  expensive in comparison with my local Insurance broker? How can they get away with making such promises?

A lot of the time they are cheaper - last year Norwich Union were far cheaper than any other company. Although I have never had a competitve quote from the AA - lots of people have though.

What they quote on adverts is that they 'can' save you money - yes they 'can' compared to 'some' other companies 'some' of the time.
More often than not there cheap for the first year and then there prices skyrocket.I find frizzel dont hike there prices up to much.

There are so many varibles - your age, sex, postcode, car type, history, etc etc.

Some companies are cheap for some people and expensive for others. Keep shopping around and you should find a nice cheap one for you eventually (it was Direct LIne for me)
