I don't think it's nearly that many, our street of 30 houses is one postcode. The next street is different by one letter. My office block has one postcode for all its occupants. IMO your guru's estimate is way too many!

Too bloody right! There's NO way there are 26,000 per postcode! He's trying to get a 'business' off the ground and is coming up with a whole range of ridiculous statements, which he doesn't back with fact. Another one was that My Voucher codes.com recently sold for £60million. No it didn't!!!
If I was you I wouldn't invest in his company.
You know those websites you go to where they ask you fill in just your postcode and house number, then return your exact address? Imagine how they would (or would not) be able to do it if there were that many houses to a postcode. All those numbers 32s!

I am number 122 in my street, the last but two in the street. There are several postcodes for this street alone as with the the other streets in the vicinity.

As Boxtops says, larger businesses and office blocks often have a single postode to themselves, and I believe DVLA has several.

So your business guru maybe isn't such a guru, because he/she's WRONG!!

Oh, I have absolutely no interest in investing in his company.

I realise this... that's why I said 'business Guru' in inverted commas... I'm being sarcastic. I absolutely know there are not 26,000 businesses per post code. Just as I also know MVC was not sold for £60million, but I'd like to be able to offer cast iron proof to him. I'm really looking for a site which specifies exactly how many businesses there are per post code.
it can be one - for example a steel works and it can be several like an industrial park. It was a bloody nightmare in the mid 90s when the n-gas market was deregulating as BG decided to move off the Ordnance Survey and onto post codes. Take a pub for example, you could have the address in one post code. And as pubs are often on street corners, the meter was in another post code - so marrying that lot up was pure hell and chaos for the gas companies and the customers...and that was before the market was deregulated to the residential market......(1994-1998)
Depends what you are counting as a postcode. If it's the whole postcode - like AB1 2BC - then no way.

But if it's postcode areas, just the initial letter/2 letters, then it's a more credible figure. No idea if right or wrong, but credible

Great, Saxy! Thanks very much
The 1st half of a postcode relates to the town/city or a particular area of a town/city in the case of larger places. The 2nd half relates to the road/section of road.
