I am in financial difficulties, I was made redundant last year and am now only working part time. My outgoings are considerably more than my incomings. Apart from my mortgage all my other debts are in my name and unsecured (35,300.) My mortgage is in joint names with my partner and she has no idea as the the extent of the problem. I need to know if everything comes to a head and i can't pay my creditiors for the unsecured loans, can they take my house if it's in joint names? Thanks you.

i don't know, but i advise you to tell your partner

that way, she can be angry for a while, THEN you can sort things out before it gets that bad

by the sound of it, you have enough on your mind without having to be evasive

if you have a noticable amount of equity then yes they can acquire a charge on the property for your half of it. They cannot force a sale but they can put themselves in the queue when you do sell it,.

Thanks guys. If I told her it would be the final straw!Would it be possible to take my name off the mortgage so they couldn't touch the house? that way the debts would stay with me if we did split up? If it is posssible who do I contact?

To take your name off the land register and the mortgage you need your lender to agree. They will only do that if they think your partner can pay it on her own.

talk to your partner if she loves you you can work it out

together.citizens advice first point of call. They deal with

these problems every day.dont put it off it wont go away.good luck.
