I have a mortgage with one building society and wish to switch to another which is offerring a better rate.
Do In need a solicitor at all for this simple transaction? If not how do I do it myself?

It is possible, with some building societies, for you to use the same solicitor as the new building society. This greatly reduces the cost. You will be able to find out this information from the new building society. information pack
