We have at the moment some students staying with us.. one of which is 14. She was sat on the arm of the sofa watching the computer and when she got up she had left a blood stain on the sofa without realising. When I saw it, I cleaned it up, but it did leave the sofa slightly wet. I didnt say anything, but as she went to sit again she saw the patch and I could tell she knew what had happened. I feel like I should say something along the lines of its ok and not to worry about it.. but I dont want to embarrass her more.. she has only been with us since yesterday so we dont know each other, I just want to put her at ease.. or should I just leave it...

thank you!
I'm no expert on family life but I did spend many years teaching teenagers (where the odd patch of blood appearing in strange places wasn't uncommon).

Say nothing.
im sorry to disagree, but id say very quietly. to her ( it ok )
You don't need to say anything. Just being extra friendly will reassure her that everything is OK.

I did think this was prob the best option.. I just suppose I feel bad for her and want to help..
Help how?

She's 14 I assume she already knows about periods and the importance of changing her sanitary products often?

Help as in.. It's ok and can happen to anyone... If you need any paracetamol it's in this drawer, if you want the washing machine, or your bed changed you are welcome to and I can get you clean sheets.... she is young and away from home..
I'd speak to her privately and not make a big deal of it - accidents will happen. It happened to me in a shoe shop once, it's acutely embarrassing.
whatwhat, i think a private chat...along the lines of "oh I forgot to say...." would be a kind and sensible thought. Are they British? Is she also likely to have a problem shopping for the right things?
Question Author
Not British.. I think she has things with her though.. Think ill say something if I get a quiet moment.. But only if the time is right x
Yes just give some time.
by the time you get round to it whatwhat - she'll be onto her next monthly!!!
