Can't believe conversation yesterday - I am corned beef (deaf) - luckily enough to get the scratchings of a conversation on the phone with anyone.

Yesterday sister called and told me a whole big confab - re this and that. Ok says Me pretending as after 40 years - call had been heard upstairs - downstairs I come - sista comes on the phone within seconds - "did you put the phone down on me there" of course I hadn't - but I go Oh OHOHHHH - do you not realise I am deaf from birth

None of my family have ever accepted me being deaf. I have one friend who knows and understands and she says my family will never ever accept me being deaf.

Jesus I no longer understand thy logic.!!!!

Mutton Jeff is deaf Conne, I am slightly deaf, and my OH often tells me so in fact he tells everyone if it comes up in conversation. I'm going to have to get a hearing aid soon. Sometimes people forget about someone being deaf.
Question Author
I am wearing a hearing aid from I was 3 - NHS - then private when I was 13 - still no understanding from the family.

It may help you understand cos I am so brilliant the lipreading - nobody but nobody really realises I am as deaf as I am - this is what causes the problem- but I am f n g - fed up. Nobody believes it - this is why it is so good to put all of your feelings in writing. Any body needs any more answers - please feel free.
Sorry, yet again you have lost me completely.
No need to get cross. I said I was trying.

Question Author
tambo - have been involved with a bit of Skype - but can't follow it as in following lipreading - the voices are further than I am speaking. Skype is not for me. sorry guys.
Question Author
zacs sorry looking back on the answers - where did you get angry - that was never meant to be - bless you. I am trying to put people right here. Conne

PS If they are interested of course!!!!
Ok conne, I'm not angry, just a bit frustrated. You can be quite amusing and I do appreciate your disability. X
Lip reading gets me through some conversations face to face when it's noisy, but on the phone sometimes peoples voices fade and you miss what they say. I've sometimes misheard what they say with hilarious results. Which is what you did there, you thought your sister said she was hanging up because she wanted to watch something, so you said goodbye and hung up on her....right? You've gotta make allowances for them. lol
Question Author
well then ZACS you seem to be another one who doesn't understand - deafness - lipreading- and body language. God bless you. Wish I could get through to you.

I am learning piano playing for about 6 weeks and the teacher - seems to know what I need - after 6 lessons and 6 deaf lessons - he has been great. Surely you can pick me up. Conne
Conne, I would love to sit down over a cup of tea (decaf) and chat to you. I'm sure you are a wonderful person who would make me laugh (and maybe cry). X
with skype you can sign or read notes

nb to self ..... buy shares in skype - lol
Question Author
WHY ZACCY why i would make your laugh or cry - have screwed my answers to find them AMUSING - I genuinely don't where that would be.

Anyway we have all come from the original tangent - why can't my family understand I am deaf Goodnight -- Conne the girl from Gloccamara
gnite Conne, sleep well & shut the door quietly ;)
Conne, I've no idea - it seems amazing that your own family won't accept it - or is that they don't want to accept it? Could happen to any of us!
Question Author
