My two children left the family home long ago. I can't actually remember what year recycling was introduced & I can't remember having to tell my children to "only put this in this bin" How do families today realistically cope with others in the family home 'reycling? Does everyone cooperate? Do you have to constantly remind them. I recycle religiously, I don't find it hard to do.

Back later .. I have to go out.
My kids are aware of what needs to go in what bin, they don't know any different so just get on with it.
Hi lina xx i have a bag in hall for recycling..i then sort it into bins as i put it outdoors ...hardly any glass ..all paper and plastic
Kids have recycling shoved down their throats at school. And quite rightly. So I suspect that it's probably the kids who remind the parents.
Just told the grandkids what goes in what bin, we have 4 different ones, it's pretty simple, if they aren't sure they ask. They are 9 and 6 so old enough to understand.
My kids are useless. I'm forever taking things out of the bin.
No reminding needed. We do newspapers and glass. Both have their own bins. My son keeps telling me to do more (when he's here).
I gave up recycling when my green council gave up collecting recycling from the doorstep (after previously giving up collecting the normal rubbish). When people who do reycle I'm constantly getting it wrong, it's the inconsistency between areas re what you recycle and number of bins

Rocky that's great! Murray, I have a green food bag in a little container on my kitchen surface for food waste ..... plastic bottles/ cans are washed & paper put out as & when needed. Zacs, do they? That's good! Fairy, sounds well organised there! Ummmm, I think probably you're not the only parent doing that, I did wonder. Cloverjo, I think some kids are forgetful & once it's thrown, they won't fish it out again. You seem to have it sorted there. Piggy, where are you? So are you expected to take it to a recycling point?

Iggy not piggy ... ;0)
I also recycle religiously but whenever my mum is round she is always putting things in the wrong bins. She does recycle things properly at home though.

Its the people at work that infuriate me. I work in a large building and even though there are many recycling bins on each floor I still see people putting recyclable items in the non-recycling bin. Drives me mad!
