housing problems?
6 Answers
Does anyone know the process I am likely to face with the council when trying to get rehoused? I am quite scared of being really far away from my family and have been told that hostels are really rough and stuff. I am 24 and have a 17 month old baby but share a room with my 20 year old sister also. Do you think I stand a chance being rehoused and what do I do?

People with babies get pushed up the list a fair bit as well as people who need to move for whatever reason. I would say that your situation is not ideal and you would probably fit into both categories. Its worth having a go, I know that Manchester Council take into account familial ties to a certain area when offering housing If your not successful there have you thought of trying private landlords? Some of them are pretty reasonable price wise.
have you thought about finding a rented property? speak to the council about this, some can help you to find a rented property and get you some help from housing benefit to pay the rent. ring your local council and ask to speak to a housing advice officer and explain your situation, they should be able to give you some advice on what to do and where you stand reguarding housing. good luck xXx
