Divorce Timescale / Separation - How do I speed up Process
1 Answers
My wife and I separated in February 2006 and she moved out of the matrimonial home and set up home elsewhere. I wanted to get the divorce and financial issues sorted out and an agreement was drawn up for a settlement. 1100 in fees later, she has rejected the settlement and then filled for divorce. The problem is that she has been dragging her heels so much and although she has filled, she still hasn't filled an application for decree nisi. I submitted my finacial situation to my solicitor 8 months ago and she has yet to respond. My question is: How can I speed the process up. I'm pay her child maintenance and have paid the mortgage & our joint debts since she left and gave her 5000 so she could get on her feet. Can I push at all or do I need to wait a predetermined time before I can divorce her. Its been 16 months and I'm no nearer a divorce than the day she left.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I filed for divorce in Feb 02 (split in Jan 02)and was completely divorced in October of the same year. The financial side took another 8 months after this.
I take it that she is divorcing you but is now stalling at the decree nisi stage. You could threaten (via your solicitor) to begin seperate divorce proceedings and this may give her the jolt she needs.
It may be worth speaking to your wife yourself. Sometimes a couple can decide upon a course of action and then solicitors stir things up. This invariably leads to everything slowing down, emotions becoming turned upside down and the solicitor watching their fantastic earnings accumulate as the time ticks on.................
