they won't give you a general anaesthetic at a dentists, but they will at a hospital, you could tell your dentist that you would really like to have it done under general, and if they could refer you to a hospital.
As above ask your Dentist or Doctor to reffer you to the dental hospital or local Hospital.
You may have to wait but ensure you put your name down for cancelations.
Explaine your fears Ect.
They dont want you overly Stressed out.
Weeeeellllll.....as a matter of fact, I lost a crown from my tooth this morning. It took me over 2 hours to pluck up the courage to ring my dentist. Visits to such places are barbaric, but a must. I always have intravenous sedation - and it DOES put me right out. Not all dental surgeries 'll do this though, and it doesn't come cheap, but I'd pay double if it meant not feeling a thing - which you don't. Your present dentist could refer you to hospital, but if you can't wait - and can pay - look in the phone book for practices who offer the sedation. Once tried, you'd never want to be treated any other way.

thankyou all for your advice.wish me luck !!
I know it's late but really there is nothing to be scared off. I avoided dentists for years for this reason, then I had no choice. I was bricking it, seriously bricking it, but I now am so used to them that I have even had fillings and work done with no injection. I used to work nights too, and even slept while being worked on!
my eldest daughter has a phobia of needles and needed work doing on her teeth but had to be knocked out with gas and nowhere would do it so after a two year fight st georges in london agreed to do it
Ahem...!!!!
Yes, bigmamma?
Hi dave thefish...i sympathise with you.. i too am petrified of dentists..i always have been. I need two wisom teeth removing and two bits of teeth removing. I did visit a dentist about 3yrs back..explained my fear...they said no worries...were extremely nice to me..told me what needed doin and made me an appointment for the work. the only thing is the dentist told me i didnt need any anaesthetic cos these two bits of teeth were not very deep and very loose..so wud come out with very little effort.!! NO ANAESTHETIC!!!! i dont think so...so i couldnt bring myself to go back. and i havent been to a dentist since. I need to go badly but i cant. So i know how you feel..its awful isnt it? I hope you find a dentist who will knock you out!! If you do let me know!! lol !!!! sorry cant be much help but at least its good to know there are other people who have the same fear as yourself....well not its not good but you know what i mean i hope....
