mothers day
7 Answers
A question for mothers:
Is mother's day very important to you? As in, the actual day that it is on, or are you able to think of it in terms as, even if your kids can't see you on the sunday, as long as they spend a special day with you at another point, as in celebrate it at another time is that ok? Surely its the same thought. Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

Remember without her, you wouldn't be here!!
I don't celebrate it at all - I think its just a Hallmark holiday! I used to give my mum cards when i was in primary school coz we used to make them and they kinda meant something, but my mum isn't a fan of mothers day. She knows I love her and we talk and spend time together regularly.
Now that I'm about to become a mother I won't be encouraging my child to waste their money on it.
My mother in law however gets very upset if she doesn't recieve a card on the day, she doesn't expect anything else though, but it gets on my nerves coz I have to put my partner in front of the cards and make him chose one then I make him write it and I post it myself, just so that she doesn't have a go at him!!!
....men LOL!!

My kids give me a card, but I'm still doing the same old things on mothering sunday, so it is not a vital event to me or my family - including my Mum.
If you want to celebrate it and cannot on the actual day (you could be working or it may be a weekend they spend with dad if separated), of course you can celebrate it on another day. If I'm down to work a shift on a special day, I just celebrate on another day, not everyone has the luxury of rearranging things to suit themselves.

You don't miss your mother until she's in the clay. If you can get there, GET THERE! Make life easy for yourself, I'm personally of the opinion that you should'nt need a day to remember your mother.
My own view on Mother's Day (Hitler changed the date of it to his own mother's birthday in Germany, in case you did'nt know) is that it's actually for when she's gone, it's one of those days in the year when one should attend to their memorials.

Mother's Day is very important to me. I don't believe it is a 'Hallmark' day; it is also very much recognised by the church. To me Mother's Day should be celebrated on the day; would Christmas Day be the same if celebrated the following week?
My mother died on March 2nd some years ago and this falls on Mother's Day this year. It is a very sad time, but luckily I have a beautiful daughter to share it with.
If your post is about you not visiting your mother - try your best; you don't know what is 'around the next corner' and you can never get this time back. I have no regrets with my mum, but it still hurts so much.
If your post is because your children are not visiting you then it is all about what you feel and how important it is to you.
