Hi, as its school holidays and im off from my full time job to spend some time with my son, id like to take him out for some day trips, but unsure where to go with him,,,, we are currently waiting for a diagnosis of aspergers syndrome,.
my son is funny with just about everything, he hates rides, so theme parks are out of the question, he likes animals, but we have visited nearly all the local zoos and farms. he loves computer related things. i just wondered if any other parents of children with autisum or similer disabilities knew of anywhere.

Hi whereabouts are you? Have you tried googling days out in your area to get some other ideas? Museums might be good for him and most are free.
The website askamum.co.uk has good ideas for days out too.
Hi kitten. I have an autistic 9 year old son. You don't say how old yours is, or where you live, but the National Space Centre's good (Leicester).

The Heights of Abraham in Derbys's a good place to visit as well - or perhaps an indoor rock climbing centre.
How about horse riding, or, if you're near the East Midlands - the White Post Farm.

They cater for disabled people there as well, and wheelchairs are free of charge to hire.
my autistic son loves the bus museum, its quieter and indulges his interests in buses, it depends where you come from in the country though.

my son also hates amusement parks, loud noise and lots of people so I have to choose earlier hours to take him out or quieter venues. he enjoyed picking a computer game as much as he enjoyed going to the zoo! lol

I tend to keep thing simple to avoid a meltdown, we went to the beach for the day, he enjoyed playing with the sand and collecting some shells, likewise we went to the country park and collected some leaves and flowers

Thanx for those answers guys,,, the bus museum sounds a safe bet, we are in the midlands. and ive booked for us to go away this weekend, not sure how things will map out though, we are off to the seaside, the last time we went, my son hated sand and was scared of donkeys. and im worried about the walk up to the sea because he cant stand being near those lil kiddy rides that our always outside amusements.
any more ideas will be welcome i really struggle with what to do with him because is attention span is limited unless its something in his zone.
