Can metal things be cremated?

Can I put metal items in a casket for cremation? My Uncle was an avid darts player and I would like to send him off with a set of darts?

My dad wanted my mum to have her wedding ring but the funeral directors returned it to him. So I don't think you can.

They would be destroyed if you put them in, everything would be.

Everything, as in what Dot?? I seen a programme once where a metal hip joint was fished out of the ashes before they were put in their urn....Dunno, Im in two minds whether to put them in or not.....Funerals monday, so got a little time to decide....

I don't think metal items can go through the cremators. Why not put them with the ashes when they are eventually buried?

metals will melt at such high temperarures but not sure what happens to them then.

I'm pretty sure that the undertaker told us when my M-in-law died about 4 years ago , that they did not put anything in the coffin now.....just a shroud.
The ever-present Health and Safety was given as the reason.
However, I'm sure your undertaker will keep you right.
Hope all goes as well as these things can for you.

Thanks All. Been to see Uncle Joe today and left the darts with him with the permission of the Funeral Director. Even if they fish them out before the final deed at least he's had his last throw so to speak!!
