And observing all the other services and feasts in the cycle of the Church. Monks and nuns go to Church several times a day, every single day.
google convents.....you'll get pages of educational establishments they have set up and work globally. Many third world countries owe their command of english, globally, to convents; very helpful in the IT world.
They also run orphanages, hospitals, farming, kitchens where needed - they give their services to mankind freely.

Although I am an Atheist I believe that most Monks and Nuns serve a very good purpose.
Many of them help the poor,sick and dispossesed,and their community in general.
Of course there are enclosed orders that do none of this,but I don't criticise this either because they do no harm to anyone,and are just following their own beliefs.
I do not condone however,the nuns that run schools that have proved to be cruel and inhuman to the pupils.
