why would they be (or not)? It's never happened to me, but I have seen stepdads and stepmums who've found it quite difficult to take on someone else's children (particularly if the birth parent is still around). IMO.
Yes boxtops I agree
Hard to say. I never had a "real" dad. My mother married my stepfather when I was 12 and our relationship has been nothing short of tempestuous. I'm glad I never had any interaction with my real father, but mine were very unusual circumstances.
neither is "better" for being the birth or step father. human nature will show who is up to the job.

my father died when I was very young, my stepfather was a complete ****.
what prompted you to ask? I find it a strange question because I think there is no definitive answer as both step dads and real dads can be equally good or bad.
what a bizarre question.
I don't think that's a question that can be answered really - it all depends on the people and circumstances involved, and as with any relationship some will work out and some won't.
on the brighter side I think I know where poodi is now ;)

What style is that
My Dad died when I was 19 and pregnant with his first grandchild. My Mum met my Step-Dad 3 years later and people worried it was still too soon.

I adored my Dad and am greatful for the time we had together but feel robbed that he was taken from us too young, but unfortunatley that is life as Sugar as it can be.

My Step-dad is just simply the best!! I love him to bits and as silly as it sounds I wish my Dad could have met him as I think they would have got on!

I think your talking about parents splitting up and remarrying which wasn't the case for me but I have still experienced both and think mine were/are as great as each other.
That 'were/are' comment at the end doesn't sound right but I just meant with my Dad not being here anymore. Hope that makes sense :os
Another low dig at NoM...
Dear oh dear oh dear.... these trolls are really busting their guts lately to upset me.

And I'm proving such a tough nut to crack.... pmslu.
