I'm new to this grandmother lark and I am concerned about little Martha's bowel movements (sorry if you are having breakfast) Poor little thing hasn't 'been' properly for quite a few days - what can I do to help her?

Ask a GP sooner rather than later!!!
is she breast feed or formula? Is she eating solids and taking water as well as food and milk?
If she seems happy, not in pain, feeding well.........the do.....NOTHING.

She's on formula & some solids - pureed fruit and Farley's rusks and drinks v weak fruit drinks in between bottles - Health visitor has recommended diluted prune juice and tummy massage and cycling movements with her legs
Agree with sqad, if she's not straining or showing signs of pain or discomfort, let nature take it's course, as it will, eventually.
>>>>>Poor little thing hasn't 'been' properly for quite a few days <<<<<<< A GP or nurse needs to be consulted!!
RATTER....you have already said that......you are repeating yourself.....;-).

Thank you all of course if she was showing signs of discomfort we would be knocking on the GPs door - but she is such a happy little thing - Isn't being a grandma wonderful
lol, yes it is, enjoy :-)
I am in the habit of repeating myself, this happens when you get old and wrinkly!!

Oh! that was another thread!
RATTER...LOL
depends on what "quite a few days" means, ratter. Some babies can go every 3 days (mine did if often enough) breast fed babies can go much longer.

I'd go with what HV has said if that was recent. Give her water rather than juice, it is possibly just that she needs some more fluid.

i used my mums tip (as was used a long time ago) of either a tiny bit of fresh orange juice in water or a very small amount of sugar. But this isnt medical advice!!
1tspn sugar (brown if poss) in 4ozs cooled boiled water will move her.
Dont they have dinnifords anymore
